Maraudon: Earth Song Falls (Pristine Waters Entrance)

Level Range: 34-44

Special Notes: Maraudon is a large instance that consists of three unique LFD entry points. Each LFD group needs to kill only two bosses to finish their leg of the instance.

The Earthsong Falls (formerly Pristine Waters) entrance is located in the middle of a lake at the top of Earthsong Falls on the ‘Zaetar’s Grave’ minimap. This section is populated mainly by crocodiles, giants, and hydras.

Bosses:

  1. Landslide: Spawns elemental shardlings during a stun effect.
  2. Princess Theradras: Run away from her Dust Shield, which pushes all group members back with associated damage.

Paladin Says…

So, Princess Theradras and… Zaetar. How does that work, exactly?

Maraudon: Foulspore Cavern (Orange Crystals Entrance)

Level Range: 32-42

Special Notes: Maraudon is a large instance that consists of three unique LFD entry points. Each LFD group needs to kill only two bosses to finish their leg of the instance.

The Foulspore Cavern (formerly Orange Crystals) entrance is located on the northeast corner of the ‘Caverns of Maraudon’ minimap. This section is populated mainly by lashers, dryads, and sludges.

This is, visually, one of my favorite instances.

Maps:

Maraudon: Foulspore Cavern, Desolace

Bosses:

  1. Noxxion: Periodically spawns five Noxxion’s Spawn and disappears; kill the spawns and he’ll reappear.
  2. Razorlash

Druid Says…

Druids don’t take kindly to living symbols of corruption.

Scarlet Monastery: The Cathedral

Level Range: 35-45

Special Notes: If you’re Horde, let the Forsaken Flesh Rippers in the courtyard help you clear out the mobs. They’ll pull nearby mobs towards them if you kill whomever they’re attacking.

The first two bosses are essentially one long fight, and constitute all of the bosses needed for LFD. However, the final (third) boss is very quick and makes for excellent loot and XP for the time investment.

Maps:

Maps For Tanks: Scarlet Monastery, The Cathedral

Scarlet Monastery: The Cathedral, Tirisfal Glades

Bosses:

  1. Scarlet Commander Mograine: Clear out every other mob in the cathedral before pulling Mograine. Once he is pulled, any remaining mobs will immediately run to and attck your party.
  2. High Inquisitor Whitemane: Comes out immediately after Mograine falls, with additional adds. She then resurrects Mograine, who continues to fight with her. Kill Whitemane first, as she casts protection on resurrected Mograine. LFD ends here, but it’s worth trying to get your group to stick around for…
  3. High Inquisitor Fairbanks: Pull the torch on the north wall at the dead end to reveal his hiding place.

Paladin Says…

That Mograine/Whitemane fight can kill you really freaking dead if your healer isn’t paying attention. Lucky all tanks have got Flash of Light, amirite?!

Scarlet Monastery: The Armory

Level Range: 32-42

Special Notes: With only one final boss, the Armory is a quick run.

Maps:

Scarlet Monastery: The Cathedral, Tirisfal Glades

Bosses:

  1. Herod: Herod performs a hard-hitting Whirlwind you can move away from. After his death, about 20 Scarlet Trainees come out that need to be killed as well.

Death Knight Says…

You can take the mobs out easily with Death and Decay. Wait, you… you don’t have D&D? Hahaha, SUCKERRRRRR!

Scarlet Monastery: The Library

Level Range: 29-39

Special Notes: Throughout the Library, there are a number of chests, some locked. DPS will likely run over to them, so be prepared to pick up an extra mob when you see one, whether or not you intended to clear that section.

Maps:

Scarlet Monastery: The Library, Tirisfal Glades

Bosses:

  1. Houndmaster Loksey and Hounds: Take out Loksey first, then tackle the hounds.
  2. Arcanist Doan: Casts a Silence spell and an AoE blast. Avoid his Detonation.

Warrior Says…

If you are chasing the Well Read achievement, many of the books on your list can be read in the Scarlet Monastery Library.

Scarlet Monastery: The Graveyard

Level Range: 26-36

Special Notes: Short and sweet, the only item of note in Scarlet Monastery’s Graveyard is to keep an eye out for the occasional rare spawn in the Forlorn Cloister.

Maps:

Scarlet Monastery: The Graveyard, Tirisfal Glades

Bosses:

  1. Interrogator Vishas: You’ll likely get DPS pulling additional mobs near the entry to get to the tempting chest. Keep an eye out if they do this mid-boss-pull.
  2. Bloodmage Thalnos: Casts Shadow Bolts and an AoE Fire Nova; avoid if possible.

Paladin Says…

If only they were all this easy.

Blackfathom Deeps

Level Range: 20-30

Special Notes: The low ceiling makes visibility challenging. There’s a lot of water in this instance; try to stay oriented when swimming. Dashed lines indicate swimming.

Maps:

Blackfathom Deeps: Moonshrine Sanctun, Ashenvale

Bosses:

  1. Ghamoo-Ra: After killing him, jump in the lake and swim down and to the northwest.
  2. Lady Sarevess: Clear out the mobs in front of her room before engaging the boss. After killing her, swim back to the lake and keep swimming all the way south.
  3. Gelihast: Pull and kill as many murlocs as you can before engaging the boss. Ther are some hidden around the corner as you enter. Be aware the boss drops nets.
    |* Lorgus Jett: A leftover quest figure. No good loot.
    |3b. Old Serra’kis: If you swim under the entrance to Kelris, you’ll find an extra boss. It’s simple tank & spank, but there is nowhere to get air in his area, so finish him off quickly or pull him back to the main lake.
  4. Twilight Lord Kelris: This series can easily wipe a group. First, run around the room clearing out ALL mobs. You can do this without pulling Kelris. Next, pull Kelris. He won’t do anything until you light the braziers, so, in any order. light one, fight the adds, light the next, fight the adds, etc., until all the braziers are lit. Frequently the DPS will ight all the braziers at once, which will suck. After the last brazer is lit, Kelris will become active.
  5. Aku’mai

Warrior Says…

If you squint your eyes juuust right, Naga ladies look kind of attractive.

Stormwind Stockade

Level Range: 20-30

Special Notes: Each boss is straightforward. Easy and short.

Maps:

Maps For Tanks: The Stockade

The Stockade, Stormwind City

Bosses:

  1. Lord Overheat: Avoid the rains of fire. Kill the adds before you pull the boss.
  2. Hogger: Try to kill the mobs in his room (draw them into the hall) before you draw Hogger.
  3. Randolph Moloch: Again, carefully pull the mobs in his room without pulling the boss, then take him out. Keep Moloch targeted, as he’ll Vanish at low health.

Death Knight Says…

The only reason I’ll ever run Stockades is if I’m boosting an alt. Have fun, suckers!

Shadowfang Keep

Level Range: 16 – 26

Bosses:

  1. Baron Ashbury: His Asphyxiate takes the target to near death. Make sure you’re healed up between instances of it.
  2. Baron Silverlaine: Summons worgen spirits. Keep focus on the Baron, they disappear when he dies.
  3. Commander Springvale: A hard fight. Calls adds. Avoid purple flame like crazy. Avoid green circles on floor. Always have your back to the wall so the purple flame doesn’t hit others.
  4. Lord Walden: Avoid blue spots on floor.
  5. Lord Godfrey: Always have your back to the wall so the Pistol Barrage doesn’t hit others. Summons ghouls.

Paladin Says…

Anything you can do, I can do better- I can do anything better than you.

Wailing Caverns

Level Range: 15 – 25

Special Notes: Wailing Caverns can be really confusing; it’s not just you. Take each boss in order and look at the map often. A non-agressive turtle, Krush, appears in the river near the entrance. He can be tamed by hunters or killed for a sweet shield.

Map:

Maps For Tanks: Wailing Caverns, Northern Barrens

Wailing Caverns, Northern Barrens

Bosses:

All the boss fights are standard tank & spank unless otherwise indicated.

  1. Lady Anacondra: After her, jump off the bridge into the water below and run left (west).
  2. Lord Pythas
  3. Lord Cobrahn: After killing him, jump off the ledge near the fire to get back to the river.
  4. Skum: After Skum, take the path to the southwest and keep going up and up.
  5. Lord Serpentis
  6. Verdan the Everliving: Jump into the hole behind him after he dies. Swim out to the river. Follow the pink line. Go back up to the entrance to start the escort quest with Muyoh.
  7. Mutanus the Devourer: Fight off waves of adds, then him.

Druid Says…

If you’re dressed in a skintight purple pantsuit and your name evokes a TMNT villain, you’re not really a druid. Real druids are required by law to slash the faces off those fakers.
